“Because I just like sports, I like athletics and I like competition.” –Trishelle Cannatella

We love CrossFit right! The uncontrollable anxiety before a workout, the fear of the unknown, and the bite of pain. But in the end, we get the thrill of completion, knowing we tested our will, pushed our limits and challenged our abilities. So why is everyone so hesitant to enter the biggest CrossFit event in Hawaii. Coach Cheyne has been doing her part to encourage, nudge and prod our athletes until they say yes. I love it! Here are some e-mails that she sent to me.

I hate that crossfit is made out to be some elite fitness when it’s really about regular people and realistic results. I want people to know that crossfit is fun and competitive, not only for the already fit. I was thinking about what you said about everyone doing it and I would love to see that too, to see that struggle and accomplishment, it’s way more exciting than seeing some yoked out muscle body rip through it easily, nah that’s exciting too. Anyways, I feel like I’m just a hairstylist, Gay is an attorney, Sharnell is a teacher? We are just normal people doing crossfit. The reason I wanted to be a coach is cause I experienced what a crossfit style of working out can do for a regular person in just 3-4 hours a week of time. It changed my life, and I just wanted to be a part of that. As one of your coaches, I just thought I’d let you know that. I know that the entry fee is expensive but I do hope that more people can think of it as a marathon or triathalon that that we are all capable of doing from what we do in the room. So can you post that freddy c email so people get the bug in there ear”

Everyone at One World should sign up for the 2010 CrossFit
> Games NorCal Sectional Qualifier.
>
> “But freddy, I saw the videos from the CrossFit Games! All
> the competitors are beastly fire breathers. I have no
> business competing against them.” Bullshit! There are
> already over 400 competitors signed up for the NorCal
> Sectional. I assure you that there are not 400 fire
> breathers. Tons of people are signing up who are new to
> CrossFit or at the same level of fitness as you.
>
> “But freddy, I can’t do all the workouts rx’d” Not a
> problem! Just like when you are at One World, the workouts

> “But freddy, I have never competed in anything in my life.”
> And now is your chance!!! There is a lot of camaraderie at
> One World. Everyone is cheering you on and helping you push
> yourself a bit farther than you thought you were able.
> Imagine being in an arena with hundreds of people cheering

> “But freddy, the workouts are going to be really hard….”
> Okay, this one is true for sure, but ask yourself, “Aren’t
> all your workouts hard?”

Thanks Cheyne, I couldn’t agree more. The CrossFit event is on the weekend of March 13th & 14th and I think everyone should sign up. It is not about winning but the fun of competition and completion. Many of you who entered the Great Aloha Run were not expecting to win right! But it was great to complete such an event. Eight miles can always be run, but the Great Aloha Run was well organized and with the crowds and music it was way more fun. Same thing here, it is a CrossFit workout on a bigger stage. Don’t think about it, just do it!
